THE PRACTICE

• The practice is a four-doctor partnership (non-limited). It holds a contract from East Riding of Yorkshire Primary Care Trust. The Trust is responsible for commissioning the services provided by this practice. It is also responsible for commissioning services from alternative providers that this practice does not provide.

The Trust may be contacted on 01482 650700 or by writing to:

• All doctors provide general medical services, maternity, minor surgery and contraception services. Dr Ferguson does NOT provide child developmental checks. Contraception services include: coils (Dr Brotherton); contraceptive implants (Dr Webb and Dr Brotherton); contraceptive injections (practice nurses).

• The doctors are available for telephone consultations and queries after morning surgery between 11.30am and 12 noon.

• The practice is a teaching partner with the Hull & York Medical School (HYMS) and we also provide teaching and work experience for health care professionals (or those intending to be). Your permission will always be asked for them to attend your consultation.

• Patients living within the practice catchment area (see map) who wish to register with us may do so at reception. Those patients who move out of our area will be asked to leave the list.

• Patients may express a preference, verbally or in writing, to receive services from a particular professional or type of professional. This preference will be recorded in your records and we will endeavour to comply with it whenever possible. Please note that we cannot guarantee a specific practitioner for an urgent appointment.

• We are a dispensing practice and are able to dispense prescriptions for those patients who are registered as living over one mile away from a chemist, also to temporary residents. The dispensary is located next to reception. When seen by a doctor, prescriptions will normally be dispensed within 10 minutes during surgery hours, subject to the availability of the drugs.

• Any patient who is abusive to the doctors, members of staff or any other person on the premises, will be given one written warning. A further occurrence will result in the patient being removed from the list. Acts of violence or offering violence will result in immediate removal from the practice list.
